Mosaic Tree 7 3/4 x 10

This piece is part of my Mosaic collection. It was created using pastel pencil for the contour lines and painted with ink. The mosaic background was inspired by both the mosaic artworks I see in my time in Italy as well as the intricate cobblestone masonry patterns I find there. I use the mosaic background as a way to transport the viewer and imply that we are in a sacred space between the physical world and the next. My intention is to zoom in on one single plant and illuminate its spiritual beauty.
 
The last image is an in-progress photo of just the pastel pencil outlines before painting it in with ink.

This artwork is sold matted and framed, without glass. The frame is a warm, dark espresso color, as show. No glass.
